RM, the globally recognized leader of BTS, is bringing his personal art collection to the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) for an exhibition titled "RM x SFMOMA." This significant cultural event is scheduled to run from October 3, 2026, to February 7, 2027.
The exhibition will present around 200 works, drawing from both RM's private collection and SFMOMA's extensive holdings. Many of these pieces are making their debut in the United States, offering a unique perspective on the intersection of Korean and international art.
RM, whose real name is Kim Nam-joon, is co-curating the exhibition with SFMOMA's America Castillo and Kim Hyo-eun. He expressed his hope that the show will serve as a bridge, fostering dialogue between diverse artistic traditions and perspectives.
The exhibition aims to highlight shared themes and resonances between works by key Korean artists such as Yun Hyong-keun, Park Rehyun, and Chang Ucchin, and pieces by renowned global artists including Mark Rothko and Henri Matisse. Additionally, SFMOMA will sign an MOU with the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea, to bolster international cooperation.
RM shared his excitement about the project, noting his journey of learning and collecting art since 2018. He aims to create an enjoyable and meaningful experience for visitors, reflecting his deep engagement with the art world.
