The European leg of BTS's ARIRANG World Tour kicked off in Madrid, marking a significant moment for thousands of Spanish fans. The Riyadh Air Metropolitano buzzed with the energy of over 66,000 attendees for the group's initial performance on Friday, June 26. This marked BTS's inaugural visit to Spain, with a second show scheduled for the following day at the same venue.
The concert commenced with an explosive reception, as J-Hope's Spanish greeting, "¡Vamos a volvernos locos!" set the tone. BTS performed a dynamic 23-song set, weaving through tracks from their latest album and career-defining hits. A highlight for fans was the surprise song segment, featuring "Airplane Pt. 2" and "Interlude: Wings" in Madrid. The band members frequently interacted with the audience, using Spanish phrases like "ARMY is on fire!" and "Estáis on fire!"
For nearly two and a half hours, the 360-degree stage transformed, with the platform moving and splitting, allowing BTS to connect with various sections of the stadium. Supported by around 30 dancers, the group showcased elaborate choreography and multiple costume changes. A memorable fan project saw thousands of purple fans rise during "Body to Body," a tribute to the group's first Spanish concert.
Towards the end, members expressed gratitude in Spanish, with Jung Kook stating, "I want to hear your scream. We've felt your energy so much today. I love you." V shared, "one of my wishes was to come to Madrid, and I made it." Jimin conveyed the band's regret for the delay in visiting Spain, promising, "For the next tour, we won't leave Madrid out." This emotional closing echoed the long-awaited anticipation of Spanish ARMY, concluding a night that wrapped up the North American leg of their tour prior to this European segment. The tour will continue across Europe before concluding in Manila.
