Oscar-winning director Giuseppe Tornatore's film, "Brunello: The Gracious Visionary," detailing the life of "King of Cashmere" Brunello Cucinelli, has been acquired by Blue Fox Entertainment for North American release. A U.S. premiere is slated for April 14 in New York.
The documentary chronicles Cucinelli's ascent from a farmer's son to the executive chairman of a global luxury lifestyle brand. It explores his formative influences, including philosophy and generosity, while highlighting his dedication to Italian craftsmanship and "humanistic capitalism."
Cucinelli, who founded his company in 1978, revolutionized cashmere by introducing vibrant colors. The film, shot in Umbria, showcases his commitment to creating all products in Italy and fostering a familial environment for his factory workers, even renovating the village of Solomeo.
Self-financed by Cucinelli, the film opened in Italy on December 9, achieving over $1 million in its initial seven-day run. The Italian premiere was attended by numerous cinema stars. The North American release will be followed by distribution across more than 100 screens in the spring.
