Brontë Building Gets Alcohol License Amid Noise Row
23 Mar
Summary
- Brontë family's historic building secured an alcohol license.
- Neighbors raised noise complaints during the licensing meeting.
- A noise limiter will be installed to manage music levels.

The Old School Room in Haworth, a building constructed by Patrick Brontë and frequented by his literary children, has been granted a premises license to serve alcohol and host live music. This decision came after a Bradford Council Licensing Panel meeting where a neighbor raised concerns about noise from events.
Managed by the charity Brontë Spirit, the historic venue hosts various community gatherings, including festivals and weddings. While acknowledging past loud music, representatives stated that a dedicated license holder and a newly mandated noise limiter will ensure future events do not disturb the surrounding area. The license aims to streamline event organization by reducing the need for temporary event notices.
