'Little Bear Ridge Road' Closes Early Despite Acclaim
12 Dec
Summary
- Acclaimed play closes eight weeks early due to low ticket sales.
- Despite glowing reviews, the production struggled to attract audiences.
- Producers Rudin, Mantello, and Metcalf will reunite for 'Death of a Salesman'.

The Broadway production of "Little Bear Ridge Road" will conclude its run on December 21st, significantly earlier than its originally planned February 15th closing date. The decision comes as the play, despite critical praise and featuring acclaimed talent like Laurie Metcalf, has failed to attract sufficient audiences.
The drama, written by Samuel D. Hunter and directed by Joe Mantello, premiered at Steppenwolf Theatre Company before transferring to Broadway. Although lauded by some critics, attendance figures remained low, leading to the premature closure after only 62 regular performances.
Notably, the production marked Scott Rudin's first Broadway show since stepping away due to past controversy. Nevertheless, Rudin, Mantello, and Metcalf are slated to collaborate again in the spring for a revival of "Death of a Salesman."
