Broadway Star Megan Hilty Exits Iconic 'Death Becomes Her' Musical

In a major shakeup for the Broadway musical Death Becomes Her, Tony-nominated actress Megan Hilty will be departing the show on January 4, 2026. Hilty has been involved in developing the production since Spring 2023 and earned a Tony Award nomination for her performance as the lead character, "Madeline Ashton."
Stepping into Hilty's shoes will be Tony nominee Betsy Wolfe, who is set to take over the role of "Madeline" starting January 16. Wolfe is no stranger to the Broadway stage, having recently originated the title role in the new musical Joy and earning a 2023 Tony nomination for her work in & Juliet.
Death Becomes Her, based on the 1992 Universal Pictures film, was the most nominated show of the 2024-2025 Broadway season, receiving a total of 33 nominations, including 10 Tony Award nods. The musical features an ensemble cast that also includes Jennifer Simard, Christopher Sieber, and Grammy winner Michelle Williams.
