Britney Spears Admits Drug Use in DUI Arrest

Pop sensation Britney Spears faced legal consequences following a DUI arrest in Ventura County. An anonymous tip reported her vehicle traveling at high speeds and swerving.

Upon being pulled over, officers detected the odor of alcohol and noted Spears' red, watery eyes and dilated pupils. She initially refused to exit the vehicle, citing past harassment.

During the stop, Spears admitted to consuming a mimosa earlier in the day and also disclosed taking multiple prescription medications, including Lamictal, Prozac, and Adderall. A search revealed Adderall pills not prescribed to her and an empty wine glass.

While her blood alcohol content registered below California's legal limit of .08, a Drug Recognition Evaluation indicated she was under the influence of a stimulant. She was subsequently charged with DUI.

Spears later pleaded guilty to the reduced charge of reckless driving during a hearing on May 4, 2026. She received 12 months of summary probation, fines, and was mandated to complete a first offender DUI program.

As part of her probation terms, Spears is required to continue substance abuse and mental health treatment, undergo regular chemical testing, and refrain from driving with any intoxicants in her system.
