Statues of mythical giants have been unveiled at Bristol Temple Meads Station, marking a new initiative to bring West Country legends to life. These installations are part of a Great Western Railway project that includes a new book by acclaimed author Sir Michael Morpurgo. Titled 'The Line to Legend Land,' the updated book retells 11 folklore tales from across the South West and Wales.
Sir Michael Morpurgo emphasized the project's goal of connecting people with their heritage and families through engaging stories. The Bristol installation features Goram and Vincent, giants famous for a legendary battle to win the hand of Lady Avona, a tale explaining the creation of the Avon Gorge. Copies of the book have been distributed to 500 primary schools to inspire families to explore the region's legends.
