Brian Robbins, previously co-CEO of Paramount Global, has introduced Big Shot Pictures, a new entertainment company dedicated to developing animation franchises. This venture has secured a strategic investment from several firms, including Sony Pictures Entertainment, which will also engage in a first-look theatrical distribution deal.
Big Shot Pictures will focus on creating both animated and hybrid live-action films. A key differentiator for the company is its plan to leverage digital platforms, such as YouTube, to test and cultivate audiences for new intellectual property. Successful concepts will then be adapted into longer-form theatrical releases and streaming series.
Robbins brings extensive experience in family entertainment, having previously led Nickelodeon and co-founded AwesomenessTV. His new company aims to reimagine timeless intellectual property and discover original ideas from emerging creators, working with talented artists to bring stories to life. The company also plans to expand into gaming, consumer products, and experiences.
