According to the news, Oscar-winning actor Brendan Fraser has joined the documentary short "Saving Superman" as an executive producer. This announcement comes as the 48th annual Denver Film Festival revealed its award recipients, as selected by both the jury and audience attendees.
In the audience-voted categories, the Narrative Feature Audience Award went to the Moroccan film "Calle Malaga," while the Documentary Feature Audience Award was presented to "Comparsa," a co-production between Guatemala and the United States. The Short Film Audience Award was given to the American production "The Singers."
Among the juried awards, the Krzysztof Kieslowski Award for Best Feature Film was awarded to the Spanish drama "Sirāt," which will represent the country in the international feature Oscar race. Meanwhile, the Maysles Brothers Award for Best Documentary was presented to "Cover-Up," a Netflix acquisition directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Laura Poitras and Mark Obenhaus.
The Denver Film Festival, which ran from October 31 to November 9, continues to be a premier showcase for independent and international cinema in the region.
