Abrams, who captivated audiences with his powerful performance as an unhoused drug addict in the hit movie Weapons, is set to play a hapless courier at the center of the story.

The new Resident Evil project is veering away from previous adaptations, aiming to be a love letter to the original Capcom video games while introducing brand new characters. Director Cregger, who co-wrote the script with Shay Hatten, is determined to deliver a fresh take on the beloved horror-action series.
