Summary
- Brainiac to make cinematic debut in 'Man of Tomorrow' film
- Lex Luthor and Superman forced to work together against Brainiac
- 'Man of Tomorrow' script tease sparked fan speculation in 2025

In September 2025, James Gunn shared the script cover for his upcoming 'Man of Tomorrow' film, sparking intense fan speculation. While Gunn initially held back from confirming the villain, the hint was clear enough for many who had waited years for Brainiac to appear on the big screen.
Now, the speculation has turned into reality, as 'Man of Tomorrow' has confirmed the arrival of Brainiac. According to reports, principal photography for the film is set to begin in April 2026 in Atlanta, positioning it as a major step in the new DC Universe.
Gunn has described the story as much a Lex Luthor film as it is a Superman film, with the two rivals forced to team up against a threat far larger than either of them. The film will center on David Corenswet and Nicholas Hoult as their characters form an uneasy alliance, with Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Frank Grillo returning as Rick Flag Sr.
The 'Man of Tomorrow' film is part of the DCU's Chapter 1: Gods & Monsters, which also includes the upcoming Supergirl and Clayface releases in 2026. Fans can look forward to the showdown between Superman, Lex Luthor, and Brainiac when the film hits theaters on July 9, 2027.
