Crime author AA Dhand is set to inspire the next generation of screenwriters through the Write Across Bradford program. This initiative, led by BBC Writers, will select twelve emerging writers from the Bradford District. These participants will engage in intensive workshops, masterclasses, and networking events over the summer.
The program's core objective is to equip writers with the skills to craft compelling TV series ideas. AA Dhand, creator of the Harry Virdee series, brings firsthand experience as the creator, writer, and executive producer of the BBC crime drama 'Virdee,' which is based on his novels and premiered in February 2025.
This eight-week scheme, running from July to September, is a collaboration between BBC Writers and five partner organizations. It aims to provide meaningful industry insight and hands-on development for aspiring creatives over 18. Applications are particularly encouraged from individuals historically under-represented in screen industries. The deadline for applications is March 10 at 12:00 GMT.
