Pitt Wins Winery Legal Battle Against Jolie

Brad Pitt achieved a significant legal win this past Wednesday in his ongoing lawsuit concerning the winery he co-owned with ex-wife Angelina Jolie. The California Court of Appeal ruled in favor of Pitt, overturning a previous decision that had permitted Russian businessman Yuri Shefler to be dismissed from the case.

Pitt alleged that he unwillingly became partners with Shefler after Jolie sold her stake in the winery, Miraval, to Shefler's company in 2021. Shefler had attempted to quash the lawsuit, arguing minimal involvement in negotiations. However, the appellate court found the share purchase agreement was subject to California law, reversing Shefler's motion and allowing Pitt and his company to recover appeal costs.

Jolie's legal representative stated that this particular ruling does not impact the merits of her client's case, which is anticipated to proceed to trial next year. The long-standing legal battle between Pitt and Jolie began in 2022, following Pitt's lawsuit alleging Jolie sold her share of the French winery without his consent. Jolie countered that no such two-party agreement existed and claimed Pitt refused a buyout unless she signed a non-disclosure agreement.

The couple, who were married from 2014 to 2016, share six children. In recent years, several of their children have reportedly taken steps to distance themselves from Pitt, including legally changing their surnames. Pitt is reportedly devastated by these actions, as per recent reports.
