Brad Pitt is experiencing significant emotional distress due to his children's efforts to remove his surname, according to a source speaking to Us Weekly. Pitt, 62, shares Pax, 22, Zahara, 21, Shiloh, 20, and twins Vivienne and Knox, 17, with ex-wife Angelina Jolie. Maddox, adopted by Jolie before her relationship with Pitt, has filed to legally remove the "Pitt" surname.
This follows similar actions by other siblings. Zahara used "Zahara Marley Jolie" in June 2024, and Vivienne went by "Vivienne Jolie" in April 2024. Shiloh also legally dropped the Pitt surname on her 18th birthday, a request granted in 2024. Pitt reportedly holds onto hope for reconciliation with all his children, though he understands he cannot force them.
Pitt previously reflected on his parenting, admitting in May 2017 that he needed to "be more" for his children and show them more. He acknowledged his work sometimes took him away, leading him to not listen effectively. He emphasized the delicate nature of children and the importance of listening and holding their hands.
