Chace Crawford and P.J. Byrne, previously known for their antagonist relationship on Prime Video's The Boys, are reuniting for a new series. The project, titled We Were Once Men, is in development at the Amazon streamer. It is written by Matt Berns, who also worked on The Boys and its upcoming prequel, Vought Rising.
The series is described as a satirical black comedy focusing on male identity in collapse. Crawford and Byrne will portray brothers among a group of men attending a radical retreat designed to transform the modern man. The logline for the show remains under wraps, adding to the anticipation.
This project marks another collaboration between the actors and the streamer that hosts The Boys. Crawford and Byrne previously starred together in the 2017 film Eloise before their reunion on the popular superhero series. Their characters on The Boys had a notable conflict that concluded in the recently finished final season.
The show is executive produced by Crawford, Byrne, Jennifer Salke, Matt Milam, and Rae Bussola, among others. It falls under Sullivan Street Productions' first-look deal with Amazon MGM Studios. Further details about the production and release timeline are yet to be announced.
