Laz Alonso, who portrays Mother's Milk, also acknowledged unresolved plot threads in a social media post.

Showrunner Eric Kripke defended the season's structure, arguing that character development is essential for the plot's impact. He questioned fan expectations, suggesting that a huge battle scene every episode might not be realistic. Adding a surprise element, Marvel actor Samuel L. Jackson made an unannounced audio cameo in episode 7, with Kripke confirming Jackson was the sole choice for the role.
