Ferry Rom-Com: Lies, Longing, and a Second Chance

Actors Alma Pöysti, William Spetz, and Pekka Strang are set to star in Jon Blåhed's romantic comedy, "The Bottom Line." Pöysti will portray Iris, a 45-year-old musician performing on the ferry between Vaasa, Finland, and Umeå, Sweden. Her life takes an unexpected turn when a younger music producer's interest awakens a desire for something more.

However, pursuing this new longing draws Iris into a complicated web of deception that jeopardizes her existing life. The film delves into themes of self-deception, longing, and the bravery required to accept oneself. Set against the backdrop of the Kvarken ferry crossing, the story uses the unique environment connecting two countries and three languages as an emotional space.

Director Blåhed describes "The Bottom Line" as a modern rom-com with a tragicomic edge, blending warmth, humor, and sexuality. Rooted in the Nordic region, the film aims to tell a universal story about love, relationships, ageing, and the quest for self-fulfillment. Original songs for the film will be written by Markus Krunegård and performed by Pöysti.
