The Borderlines Film Festival, now in its 24th year, is preparing to welcome tens of thousands of attendees for a cinematic journey across Herefordshire, Shropshire, Malvern, and the Marches.
From March 6 to 21, the festival will present nearly 300 screenings showcasing 70 films. This diverse selection includes acclaimed Oscar-nominated movies, engaging documentaries, and international features, offering a broad spectrum of global cinema.
The event will host screenings in more than 20 venues. Notably, three new locations in Shropshire – SpArC Theatre, Cleobury Mortimer Parish Hall, and the new Maona Cinema in Oswestry – are joining the festival this year. Malvern Theatres will also host over 80 screenings despite undergoing significant redevelopment.
Director Naomi Vera-Sanso expressed enthusiasm for sharing international films and aims to attract a wider range of age groups and demographics. Last year, the festival attracted 21,450 visitors, nearing its 2020 peak. The festival is supported by funding from the British Film Institute, National Lottery Funding, the Elmley Foundation, and Hereford City Council.
