Border 2 is slated for release this Friday, January 23, with producer Nidhi Dutta sharing insights into its casting and conception.
Dutta revealed that Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty were the first choices for their respective roles in the film.
The inspiration for Border 2 came from 22 stories of Army, Navy, and Air Force heroes from the 1971 war, shared by the late Chief of Defence Staff, General Bipin Rawat.
Dutta, who also penned the script, initially aimed to tell these stories, which coincidentally aligned with the war depicted in the original Border.
Despite online trolling directed at Varun Dhawan's performance, Dutta defended his portrayal of Major Hoshiar Singh Dahiya, a Param Vir Chakra award winner.
Her father, filmmaker J.P. Dutta, was deeply moved upon seeing the film, leaving Dutta with emotional satisfaction.
The film's production was already underway when Gadar 2 became a blockbuster, but Dutta emphasizes Border 2 is not a direct sequel but rather explores simultaneous battles from the same war.
Dutta expressed plans for Border 3, acknowledging a future installment is likely given the extensive source material.
She plans to experience the film's release by visiting a single-screen cinema, emphasizing the importance of appreciating the entire crew's effort.
