The gravelly-voiced Welsh icon, born Gaynor Hopkins in Neath, expressed her surprise and delight at the milestone, though she humorously noted that her earnings from the streams amount to "about nothing."

Tyler, who was discovered by a talent scout in Swansea, noted that the original eight-minute version of the song was initially thought to be too long for radio play. However, the four-minute radio edit became a worldwide sensation, topping charts in the UK and US. The song's enduring appeal is evident in its frequent use in advertisements and films, contributing to its evergreen status.
