In September 2025, the new horror-thriller film Bone Lake is generating buzz for its thrilling and unconventional premise. The movie, which premiered at Fantastic Fest in 2024, follows a couple who are forced to share a lakeside mansion with another mysterious, boundary-pushing pair.

According to the synopsis, the getaway "spirals into a nightmarish maze of sex, lies and manipulation." Director Mercedes Bryce Morgan says the film is "meant to be pure fun," and early screenings have elicited strong reactions from audiences. "We've had audiences gasping, laughing, even yelling out loud, which is my favorite kind of movie-watching experience," Morgan shares.

The director adds that Bone Lake has sparked conversations about relationships, including "communication, sex lives or future dreams." Morgan emphasizes the importance of "playing by the same rules" in any relationship. Filming the movie was just as intense as watching it, with the four lead actors and crew powering through real storms and all-night shoots.
