25 Jul
Summary
- Justin Vernon performed surprise sets of Bob Dylan and Bon Iver music.
- This marked his first full set of original music live since 2023.
- The Eaux Claires festival featured a 'Bon Dylan' tribute set.

Justin Vernon, under his Bon Iver moniker, delivered a notable performance at the Eaux Claires festival this past Friday. He surprised the audience with two distinct sets: one paying tribute to Bob Dylan, dubbed "Bon Dylan," and another featuring his own Bon Iver material. This surprise set of original music was his first full performance of this kind since 2023.
The "Bon Dylan" portion of the evening showcased Vernon and collaborators performing more than a dozen Bob Dylan songs. The selection ranged from well-known hits like "Knockin' on Heaven's Door" to deeper cuts from albums such as "Shot of Love."
Following the tribute, Vernon played an unannounced set of Bon Iver's music. This included fan favorites like "Flume" and "Re: Stacks," as well as the early rarity "Hayward, WI." The set also featured the unreleased John Prine tribute "Room to Spare" and opened with a rendition of Kevin Morby's "Die Young." The festival continues on Saturday with other artists.
