15 Jun
Summary
- Bollywood releases at least one film every Friday from June 19 to August 28.
- 2026 has seen major global successes like Dhurandhar: The Revenge.
- Hollywood blockbusters like Spider-Man and The Odyssey will compete for audiences.

The summer months in Bollywood promise a packed cinematic experience, with new releases scheduled every Friday from June 19 through August 28. This period will see a variety of films, from highly anticipated blockbusters to smaller, ambitious projects. The trade is keen to see if these upcoming films can match the staggering success of early 2026 releases.
Dhurandhar: The Revenge set a high bar, earning Rs 1813 crore globally, followed by Border 2's Rs 450 crore-plus performance and Bhooth Bangla's Rs 269 crore. Industry experts note the crucial nature of these months, especially given only three major hits have been recorded so far this year.
The summer lineup also includes significant Hollywood competition. Tentpole releases like Toy Story 5, Evil Dead: Burn, The Odyssey, and Spider-Man: Brand New Day are set to draw audiences. Historically, major Hollywood films, even in their dubbed versions, have performed exceptionally well in India, posing a challenge to local productions.
Anticipated Bollywood films include Cocktail 2, Welcome To The Jungle, Dhamaal 4, and Batwara 1947, each with unique selling points. Cocktail 2 aims for Gen Z appeal, Welcome To The Jungle offers madcap adventure, Dhamaal 4 revives a comedy franchise, and Batwara 1947 explores Partition themes with Sunny Deol.
Other notable releases are Alpha from the YRF Spy Universe, Baby Do Die Do featuring a unique serial killer protagonist, and Awarapan 2. The slate also features The India Story, Tera Yaar Hoon Main, Prahaar: The Ujjwal Nikam Story, Vvan, Eetha, and Khosla Ka Ghosla 2, offering a diverse cinematic buffet for audiences.
