In a shocking development, Bollywood actor Siddharth Sharma has dissociated himself from the Sunny Deol-starrer Soorya. Sharma claims the producers of the film have failed to pay his dues, despite him fulfilling his contractual obligations.
According to Sharma, he was approached by the Soorya producers in 2022 when he was working on the reality show 'Lock Upp'. They convinced him to sign on for an important role in the film, which was pitched as a Sunny Deol starrer. Sharma agreed and began shooting the film in Jaipur.
However, Sharma alleges that the producers kept postponing the shoot schedules and did not adhere to the contract, which stated he would receive a signing amount and 20% of his remaining fees after 50% of the shoot was complete. Sharma claims the producers refused to pay him his dues, even after the success of Gadar 2 and the re-release of Sanam Teri Kasam, which gave them the financial means to do so.
Sharma further accuses the producers of cheating him by shooting an unauthorized advertisement for the brand Manyavar, featuring him, Sunny Deol, and another actor. When confronted, the producers claimed it was a "creative" addition to the film, but Sharma maintains it was not part of the original script.
Frustrated by the non-payment of dues and the unauthorized use of his image, Siddharth Sharma has now initiated legal proceedings against the Soorya producers. He has also stated that he will not be involved in the film's dubbing or promotions until his rightful dues are cleared.
