As of September 2025, Bobby Deol, the acclaimed Bollywood actor, has been experiencing a career resurgence with his recent projects. In a candid interview, Deol has now opened up about his personal life and family, sharing some heartwarming revelations.
Reflecting on his younger days, Deol reveals that he had always wanted a large family, with plans to have four children and name them after his siblings' unisex names. "When I got married, I wanted to have four kids... and I wanted to name them exactly the same names as my siblings because we have very unisex pet names," he shared.
However, when Deol and his wife were expecting their first child, his focus shifted to finding the perfect girl's name. "Then when my wife and me were having our first child, I only looked for girl names," he admitted, inspired by the close bond his sisters shared with their parents.
Deol's desire to name his daughter after his mother, Nicky, led to a playful disagreement with his sister Anu, who had already claimed the name for her own future child. "My second sister, who is two years older than me, she got married and before that she said, 'If I have a daughter, I'll name her Nicky.' That's my mom... So I said, 'No, I'm going to name my daughter Nicky.'" Though Anu ultimately did name her daughter Nicky, Deol now considers his niece especially dear.
When Deol's first son was born, the actor experienced a profound connection, sharing, "I had my first son, and it was the day after Gadar released. It was a huge moment for me and my brother, around 24 years back. There was just so much happiness in the house." While he had initially wanted to name his firstborn Dharam, after his legendary father, Deol ultimately chose the name Aryaman.
It was with his second son, however, that Deol was able to carry forward his father's legacy, naming him Dharam. "Then I found another name," he shared with a smile, noting that his younger son has inherited the same warmth and affection that defines his grandfather.
