Disney's 'House of Mouse' Book Promises Bombshell Revelations

Hollywood is abuzz with anticipation for an upcoming unauthorized book focusing on Bob Iger's tenure at The Walt Disney Co. Titled "The House of Mouse: Bob Iger and The War of Succession at Disney," the book is slated for release on December 1, 2026. It features a striking cover with a Mickey Mouse-adorned crown on a red pillow.

Authored by Wall Street Journal reporter Robbie Whelan, the book is expected to delve into Iger's complex relationship with former Marvel chief Ike Perlmutter. Their initial friendship, marked by Iger's involvement in Marvel projects and discussions of compensation, reportedly soured, leading Perlmutter to support an activist campaign against Disney.

Publisher HarperCollins states that Whelan's work is based on hundreds of interviews and thousands of pages of documentary evidence, including previously unreported corporate communications and internal memos. The book aims to explore how Iger's desire to maintain control led to a decade-long power struggle.

Disney has reportedly hired attorney Charles Harder to scrutinize the book's content and verify details, amid speculation about its sources. The book is positioned as a human story about balancing creative endeavors with the realities of running a modern media business.

This release follows other recent publications concerning Disney's leadership. Former CEO Bob Chapek's tell-all, "Behind the Castle Walls," is set to be released later this month, addressing his ousting and Iger's return. Iger himself is also reportedly working on his second memoir.
