- Three friends, including two NFL players, tragically lost their lives.

In 2009, a fishing expedition intended for four friends, including NFL players Marquis Cooper and Corey Smith, tragically turned into a battle for survival. Their boat capsized amidst a powerful hurricane off the Florida coast, leaving them stranded and their anchor stuck. Attempts to free the anchor led to them being hit by a massive wave, overturning their vessel.
With no radio communication and far from cell service, the group found themselves in a dire situation with no immediate hope of rescue. Director Joe Carnahan attempts to capture the grim reality of their plight, utilizing innovative filmmaking techniques to convey the overwhelming despair. However, the film struggles with clunky exposition and a lead performance that doesn't fully embody the gravity of the situation.
Meanwhile, U.S. Coast Guard Captain Timothy Close leads a search and rescue operation. Despite the challenges of portraying the rescue efforts, the film intermittently succeeds in depicting the terrifying hopelessness of the survivors' predicament. The narrative highlights the harsh realities of survival and the immense power of nature.
