- Blumhouse to adapt popular BOOM! Studios comic into feature film and adult animated series
- Series has sold over 5 million copies worldwide since 2019 debut
- Creator James Tynion IV to shepherd TV adaptation, won 3 consecutive Eisner Awards

In a major move for the horror genre, Blumhouse Productions has announced plans to adapt the acclaimed BOOM! Studios comic book series "Something is Killing the Children" into both a live-action feature film and an adult animated television series.
The announcement comes as the comic, first published in 2019, has become a global phenomenon, selling over 5 million copies worldwide and being translated into more than 20 languages. The series, created by James Tynion IV and Werther Dell'Edera, has also garnered critical acclaim, winning multiple Eisner Awards - the highest honor in comics. Tynion himself made history as the first writer since Alan Moore to win the Eisner Award for Best Writer three consecutive years in a row (2021, 2022, 2023) for his work on the series.
Blumhouse, known for its expertise in the horror genre, will develop the "Something is Killing the Children" franchise simultaneously across the two mediums. Tynion IV will shepherd the TV adaptation, ensuring the world he and Dell'Edera have built is faithfully translated to the screen. The comic's breakout spinoff, "House of Slaughter," which launched with over 500,000 copies sold, is also expected to be part of the expanded universe.
With Blumhouse's involvement and BOOM! Studios' commitment to a 100-issue run, ensuring the series' presence on shelves for the next decade, "Something is Killing the Children" is poised to reach new heights as both a live-action and animated property.
