Summary

- They search for a missing grandson, uncovering family secrets.
- The film contrasts Benidorm's scenery with themes of loss.

The crime-thriller and family drama "Blue Lights of Benidorm" follows Gloria and Juan, who have been divorced and estranged for two decades. Their forced reunion occurs when they learn their daughter has been murdered in Spain.
Traveling from Argentina to identify their daughter's body, they discover a grandson they never knew existed. As they search for the missing child, buried resentments and guilt resurface, pushing the parents toward a tentative alliance.
Primarily filmed in the Mediterranean resort city of Benidorm, the film uses its sunny iconography to contrast with its themes of loss and responsibility. Director Ángeles González-Sinde, adapting her own novel, aimed for an ending that offers the possibility of repair.
González-Sinde, a two-time Goya Award winner, noted her belief in human beings' capacity to rebuild by leaning on others. She adapted her own novel "Después de Kim" for the screen.
The film stars Goya-winning Adriana Ozores and acclaimed Argentine actor Darío Grandinetti. Karma Films is set to release the movie theatrically in Spain on April 24.
