Blossoms Crash Weddings With Van Gigs for New Album

Stockport's own Blossoms are adding a unique twist to wedding season, performing surprise pop-up gigs at fans' ceremonies. Arriving unannounced in a van, the band delivers short sets to celebrate couples tying the knot, a novel promotion for their upcoming sixth studio album, 'Songs From The Wedding Cake,' slated for release on October 2. This album title is a clever reference to Stockport's distinctive town hall, locally nicknamed 'The Wedding Cake' for its tiered structure and white facade, which also holds personal significance for frontman Tom Ogden as the venue where he married five years ago.

The band is channeling the creative marketing energy seen with their fifth album, 'Gary,' which was inspired by the theft of a large model gorilla. For the 'Wedding Cake' album, Blossoms wanted to replicate that buzz without disrupting wedding festivities. This innovative approach was exemplified when they surprised fans with a performance on a truck outside a Manchester nightclub after one of their wedding gigs. The band also recently collaborated with TV personality Maya Jama for the music video of their lead single, 'Meet Me In Love,' after meeting her at the MTV EMAs in October 2024.
