- The writer honored the late actor Michael Keating and his character.

Cavan Scott, a co-writer for the 'Blake 7' series, recently shared his original, unrealized ending for the beloved sci-fi show's audio dramas. His blog post, written after the passing of actor Michael Keating, detailed a different fate for the character Vila.
Scott had envisioned Vila as a survivor of the show's final massacre, faking his death among his shipmates. This alternate storyline would have seen Vila adopt a new identity on a distant colony, but his quiet life would be disrupted by a visitor from his past. This plan aimed to offer a fresh narrative for Keating's character.
Originally, the audiobooks were intended to follow Seasons 1, 2, and 3. However, Scott noted that 'behind-the-scenes shenanigans' altered his original plans for the series' conclusion. Despite the deviation from his initial vision, Scott expressed gratitude for the opportunity to work with Keating, calling him a childhood hero and bidding him farewell with 'Maximum Power.'
'Blake 7' was a popular British science fiction series that aired for 52 episodes. It followed Roj Blake and a misfit crew aboard the alien ship Liberator as they waged war against the totalitarian Terran Federation. The series concluded abruptly with the apparent deaths of the entire crew.
