Blackburn Cathedral is currently aglow with Luxmuralis, an immersive sound and light installation running nightly until February 28, 2026. This national touring show transforms the cathedral into a moving artwork, exploring themes of time with projections including clockwork inner workings and excerpts from H.G. Wells' "The Time Machine."
The unique experience, created by sculptor Peter Walker and composer David Harper, is designed to foster reflection and wonder. It is a significant part of Blackburn Cathedral's extensive centenary celebrations planned for 2026.
Luxmuralis has a history of impressive light installations, having previously illuminated landmarks such as St Paul's Cathedral, the Tower of London, and Westminster Abbey, as well as venues in the United States and Germany.
