The Black Crowes encountered a negative reaction from some fans during their concert in Tampa, Florida, on Sunday, May 31. The incident occurred after the band displayed their crow mascot, costumed as Uncle Sam, on a large screen. This prompted patriotic "U.S.A." chants from the audience, followed by boos directed at the band. Frontman Chris Robinson addressed the crowd, acknowledging the booing and asserting that the band "isn't afraid" and is "most assuredly not ignorant."
In response to the dissent, some concertgoers reportedly left the venue. However, The Black Crowes proceeded with their performance, including playing their hit song "She Talks to Angels." Earlier this year, in an interview with Mojo magazine, Robinson expressed a disinterest in politics, stating his focus is on "poetry and art and people and experience." He did, however, mention his awareness of right and wrong regarding current world events.
The band is currently on their Southern Hospitality tour with Whiskey Myers and released their tenth studio album, "A Pound of Feathers," in March. Robinson discussed the album's creation process, noting it was recorded in just 10 days. He aimed for a "funky and loose" sound, reflecting the dynamic and sometimes "ugly" nature of being in a rock 'n' roll band.
