Mindy Kaling's Daughter Calls B.J. Novak's House a 'Country Retreat'

B.J. Novak described his cherished relationship with his best friend, Mindy Kaling, and her children. Novak, who is godfather to Kaling's daughter Katherine, 8, and son Spencer, 5, shared that Katherine recently expressed a wish to live at his house.

Katherine called Novak's Hollywood Hills home a "little house in the country," a sentiment Novak found amusing. He mentioned his home provides the desired views without the unsettling elements he sought to avoid when purchasing it in 2011.

Novak and Kaling, who have known each other for years, speak daily. He recounted a story where Katherine gave him the nickname "Fofo," inspired by a character from an educational app, leading him to gift her a stuffed Fofo bear.

Kaling has previously highlighted Novak's integral role in her family, calling him more like family than a friend. He also spoke at her Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony in February 2025, praising her as an "incredible mother of three."
