Birmingham Pride, one of the UK's largest LGBTQ+ cultural celebrations, is set to take place this Bank Holiday weekend in Birmingham's Gay Village. Organisers anticipate over 75,000 attendees for the two-day festival, which includes a vibrant parade and a ticketed music event. The festival marks a return to its original home on Hurst Street after several years at the Smithfield site, which is undergoing redevelopment.
This year's event boasts a stellar lineup. Saturday's main stage features headliners Katy B and Sigala, supported by artists like Danny Beard and Booty Luv. The Conrad Guest Cabaret Stage will showcase drag and cabaret talent, including Victoria Scone. Sunday's main stage will be headlined by Nadine Coyle and the Abba tribute act Björn Again, with performances also from Boney M ft Mazie Williams and others.
The not-for-profit event has a significant community impact, having distributed more than £250,000 to local LGBTQ+ community and support groups since 2014. Organisers emphasize inclusivity, welcoming everyone to celebrate, though homophobic or transphobic behaviour will not be tolerated. A ticket or wristband is required for festival entry, with children 11 and under admitted free when booked in advance.
Travelers should be aware of potential disruptions due to industrial action affecting West Midlands Railway and London Northwestern Railway services on Friday and Saturday. West Midlands Metro tram services will also see disruptions on Saturday. Several bus routes will be on diversion, and drivers are advised to avoid the city centre due to road closures for the parade and expected congestion. Park and ride facilities are available, and detailed travel information can be found at Transport for West Midlands.
