Irwin, 27, fondly recalled their DWTS journey a decade ago, where Hough's "kindness, determination, and unparalleled, very patient teaching skills" helped her win the mirrorball trophy despite having no prior dance experience.
Irwin praised Hough, 40, as "one of the most remarkable people I have ever known" and the "most deserving person" for the Innovator Award due to his "relentless pursuit of excellence, his influence on a new generation of performers, and his unwavering belief in the power of dance to heal, inspire and unite."
In addition to honoring Hough's professional achievements, Irwin also expressed excitement about his upcoming transition to fatherhood. Hough and his wife, Hayley Erbert, 31, recently announced they are expecting their first child together, a news that has delighted their family and friends, including Hough's sister, Julianne Hough.
