Billy Strings, a prominent figure in bluegrass known for his energetic live shows and Grammy-winning albums, has released "So Much for Goodbyes." This fifth studio album delves into profound personal experiences, including the recent birth of his child and the tragic loss of his mother to a drug overdose. Strings stated the album was created to honor his mother and process his grief, using his guitar as a coping mechanism.
The record features Strings' dedicated band, including Billy Failing, Royal Masat, Jarrod Walker, and Alex Hargreaves. It also boasts guest appearances from renowned artists such as Del McCoury, Alison Krauss, and Bryan Sutton, with a vocal cameo from Jack White. Esteemed producer T Bone Burnett co-produced the album alongside Strings himself. Unlike his typical extended live jams, the 16 tracks on "So Much for Goodbyes" are concise, none exceeding seven minutes, focusing instead on deeply personal songwriting.
