Billy Strings to Honor Mom with Poetry Album

Bluegrass musician Billy Strings is embarking on a poignant project to honor his late mother by setting her poetry to music. His mother, Debra, tragically passed away earlier this year from an accidental overdose, a loss that has deeply reshaped Strings' understanding of addiction. He shared that fulfilling this musical endeavor was a dream they had discussed, involving her art for album covers and his transformation of her writings into songs.

Following his mother's death, Strings has been diligently collecting her poetry, immersing himself in her work to capture her essence. This effort is not only a creative pursuit but also a deeply personal way to process his grief and maintain a connection with her. He aims to produce an album that serves as a lasting tribute to her memory and their shared artistic aspirations.

Strings recently released his studio album, 'Highway Prayers,' in 2024 and has been actively touring. He also had the opportunity to perform with music legends Willie Nelson and Bob Dylan on their Outlaw Music Festival tour. Furthermore, he received his fourth Entertainer of the Year award from the International Bluegrass Music Association last September.
