Billie Eilish Accused of Hypocrisy Over Diet Remarks

Musician Billie Eilish has become the subject of widespread criticism regarding her vegan advocacy and past political statements. During a recent interview with ELLE Magazine, Eilish asserted that individuals cannot genuinely love animals while also consuming meat, describing meat-eating as fundamentally wrong. This declaration ignited a firestorm on social media, with numerous users branding her perspective as "very privileged" and hypocritical.

This controversy is not the first time Eilish has faced public scrutiny this year. In February, during the 2026 Grammys, her speech denouncing the phrase "no one is illegal on stolen land" and condemning ICE led to sharp rebukes. Critics, including lawmakers, questioned the sincerity of her statements, suggesting she should return her Los Angeles property to Native Americans to address the concept of "stolen land." Homeland Security officials also responded, refuting celebrity anti-ICE rhetoric and highlighting the department's law enforcement actions.

Earlier in January, Eilish received an environmental justice award, where she spoke about individuals being subjected to kidnapping, assault, and murder during ICE raids, and expressed concern over the climate crisis, animal agriculture, and restricted access to food and healthcare. In response, a DHS official stated that footage showed an individual impeding law enforcement and weaponizing their vehicle, asserting that ICE does not separate families and that such rhetoric contributes to increased assaults against law enforcement officers.
