'Bill & Ted' Stars Tease Potential Fourth Film in Beloved Franchise

As of October 7th, 2025, Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter, the beloved stars of the 'Bill & Ted' sci-fi comedy franchise, have expressed interest in reuniting for a potential fourth installment in the time-traveling series.

The two actors are currently starring together in Jamie Lloyd's production of Samuel Beckett's existentialist classic 'Waiting for Godot' on Broadway, which is set to run until early next year. Reeves and Winter first appeared on screen together in the 1989 film 'Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure', playing a pair of slacker high school students who use a time-traveling phone booth to ace a history presentation. They reprised their roles in the 1991 sequel 'Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey' and most recently in 2020's 'Bill & Ted: Face the Music'.

When asked by Variety about the possibility of a fourth 'Bill & Ted' movie, Reeves emphatically responded "Yes and yes." Winter added that their long-standing friendship and working relationship has proven beneficial for their take on Beckett's play, with director Jamie Lloyd remarking on the natural chemistry and connection between the two characters.

The 'Bill & Ted' franchise has developed a cult following over the years, with critics praising the films' unique blend of philosophy, history, and the 'woah, dude' sensibilities of its protagonists. While the movies may not have been the funniest or most original of their era, they were always underpinned by a genuine earnestness that resonated with audiences.
