Bihar's 114th Foundation Day: Culture, Conservation, and Celebration

Bihar will mark its 114th Foundation Day with a three-day celebration from March 22 to March 24, 2026. This event commemorates Bihar's separation from the Bengal Presidency in 1912. The primary venue for the festivities is Gandhi Maidan, with supplementary events scheduled at S K Memorial Hall and Rabindra Bhawan. The festival is themed 'Unnat Bihar, Ujjwal Bihar,' emphasizing the state's development and bright future.

The celebration lineup features a diverse range of cultural performances. Attendees can enjoy musical concerts by artists like Sona Mohapatra, Shaan, and Papon, alongside classical Dhrupad and Gharana recitals. The cultural offerings extend to Bhikhari Thakur's folk theatre, various classical dance forms, a Hasya Kavi Sammelan, and a captivating laser light show. Complementing these are a food festival, a book fair, and development pavilions.

An integral part of the celebration is an environment and conservation-focused exhibition by the environment, forest, and climate change department. This jungle-themed display includes mountain replicas and models illustrating the Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali Mission, efforts to reduce air pollution, and the plastic ban. Street plays will also be performed to educate the public on water conservation, the impact of plastic, and the significance of trees.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar extended greetings, underscoring Bihar's glorious history and the people's determination in building a magnificent future. He expressed confidence that unity, brotherhood, social harmony, and goodwill will elevate the state's pride. The Patna district administration has implemented comprehensive security and logistical measures, deploying 94 magistrates and a 24-hour control room. Over 128 CCTV cameras will monitor the grounds, supported by medical teams, fire tenders, and designated traffic routes.
