Environmental Penalty Blocks Bigg Boss Kannada 13
1 Sep
Summary
- Jollywood Studios faces permit issues due to pending environmental penalty.
- Minister states no permission granted until regulatory issues are resolved.
- September 6 premiere date is now uncertain due to administrative hurdles.

The premiere of Bigg Boss Kannada 13, slated for September 6, faces significant uncertainty due to unresolved environmental issues at Jollywood Studios. Forest, Ecology and Environment Minister Ramalinga Reddy emphasized that the studio must clear its pending environmental penalty and comply with regulations before any permission is granted. This includes addressing wastewater treatment and pollution-control measures.
Further complicating matters, a report from September 1 indicated that the Bengaluru South district administration had not received an application for the show's permit. Jollywood Studios is also awaiting its Consent for Establishment from the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB). These administrative and environmental hurdles cast doubt on the planned September 6 launch.
This situation echoes last year's disruption when KSPCB sealed Jollywood Studios over alleged environmental violations, leading to temporary relocation of contestants. Despite assurances from host Kiccha Sudeep that previous issues were resolved, Minister Reddy's remarks suggest outstanding regulatory matters remain. Jollywood's immediate priorities include clearing the fine, implementing controls, and securing all necessary approvals.
