Greenwich Entertainment has secured North American distribution rights for 'Big Break,' the inaugural feature film from New York-based sketch comedy collective Simple Town. The comedic thriller is slated for a nationwide theatrical release in 2027.
Set years after the fictional disbandment of the Simple Town group, the film centers on Will, Caroline, and Felipe. They reunite with their estranged former collaborator, Sam, now a successful Hollywood figure. Their nostalgic weekend reunion at Sam's secluded mansion takes a dark turn as secrets surface, revealing the grim reality behind their strained friendships.
Directed by Ian Faria from a script by Samuel Lanier, 'Big Break' premiered at the Fantasia Film Festival this past summer. The film showcases the distinctive style and chemistry Simple Town has cultivated over a decade of collaboration, blending comedy with slasher elements.
The group expressed excitement about their first feature release, describing it as a movie about their 'real and dire friendship.' Greenwich Entertainment's acquisition was negotiated by Jasper Basch, with CAA Media Finance representing the filmmakers.
