Blue Peter's former editor, Biddy Baxter, who died last August at the age of 92, left a substantial estate valued at £3,549,910 after deductions. Her will dictated that this fortune be divided equally among 100 beneficiaries.
The largest share, amounting to 25 percent or £887,477.50, was allocated to The Worshipful Company of Musicians charity. Significant portions were also designated for Durham Cathedral, Durham University, and St Mary's College of Durham, each receiving 16 percent (£567,985.60).
Further bequests included 14 percent (£496,987.40) to All Saints Church in Margaret Street, London, and five percent to Leicester University. The remainder of her estate, £390,490.10, was distributed equally among other friends and associates. Baxter, who had no children, was known for shaping Blue Peter into a television staple.
