Veteran Director Bharathiraja Stable Amid Death Rumors

Veteran Tamil filmmaker Bharathiraja was admitted to MGM Healthcare in Chennai on December 27th due to breathlessness. Amidst circulating false rumors of his death, the hospital has issued a bulletin confirming his stable condition and positive response to medical care. He is currently under close observation in the intensive care unit, with doctors reporting his vital parameters as normal.

Bharathiraja had recently returned to Chennai after a period of treatment in Malaysia with his daughter. His health has been a subject of concern over the past year, compounded by the loss of his son, actor-director Manoj Bharathiraja, in March 2025 due to cardiac arrest. This personal tragedy has reportedly taken a significant emotional toll.

Jayaraj Periyamayathevar, Bharathiraja's brother, had previously spoken about the filmmaker's delicate mental and physical state, noting his struggle to cope with his son's death. Despite efforts to provide comfort and a change of scenery, including travel abroad, the filmmaker has found it difficult to come to terms with the loss, highlighting his deep emotional vulnerability.
