Filmmaker Slams Bollywood's "Shocking Silence"

Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar has strongly commended Aditya Dhar's recent directorial venture, "Dhurandhar: The Revenge," describing its impact as unprecedented. Bhandarkar agreed with Ram Gopal Varma's assessment of the film disrupting the industry, stating he watched it at a paid preview and found it brilliant.

He expressed disappointment over the "shocking silence" from the Hindi film industry concerning "Dhurandhar." Bhandarkar pointed out that numerous South Indian stars, including Mahesh Babu, Allu Arjun, Ram Charan, and Rajinikanth, had openly appreciated the film. He contrasted this with the lack of comparable acknowledgment from Bollywood filmmakers and actors.

Bhandarkar stressed that films, regardless of personal taste, deserve appreciation, especially when they revitalize an industry that has faced box office struggles for the past two years. He lamented the lack of unity within the Mumbai film industry, contrasting it with the support shown by their South Indian counterparts. Bhandarkar believes that a successful film benefits the entire industry ecosystem.

He further echoed sentiments comparing the film's impact to a "dinosaur" or even larger, suggesting it has redefined filmmaking dynamics. Bhandarkar called it a "director's film," praising Dhar's vision, screenplay, and the meticulous detailing that kept audiences engaged for its entire duration. He believes "Dhurandhar" will become a global case study for film schools, urging the industry to recognize and adapt to such groundbreaking cinema.
