A spectacular textile artwork, believed to be the largest of its kind in centuries, is now on display at Beverley Minster. Titled "Threads," the exhibition showcases 30 intricate panels, collectively comprising over eight million stitches.
Artist Jacqui Parkinson dedicated ten years to its creation. The artwork, standing 3m high, is described on her website as potentially the largest textile project by a single artist ever, and the largest in 600 years.
The free exhibition is divided into "Threads Through Creation" and "Threads Through the Cross." It will be accessible until April 22. The panels are crafted from silk, hand-dyed fabric, metallic leathers, and gold leaf.
Beverley Minster hopes the display will foster community spirit through associated craft, music, and storytelling events. Visitors can admire the beauty and scale or reflect on the spiritual meaning of the work.
