The popular British detective drama "Bergerac" is making its way to the United States, with PBS Distribution securing the rights to the series. This acquisition, finalized ahead of the London TV Screenings, will bring the first two seasons of the contemporary reimagining to American viewers later this year.
Damien Molony stars as Detective Jim Bergerac in this fresh take on the iconic show, which originally aired between 1981 and 1991. The production is a collaboration between BlackLight TV, Westward Studios, and Visit Jersey.
Previously, the reboot proved successful in the UK, with its first season drawing 2.4 million viewers and becoming UKTV's highest-rated show of 2025. A second season is scheduled for release early this year. The series boasts a notable writing team, including Toby Whithouse, and a cast featuring Zoë Wanamaker and Philip Glenister.
International sales for "Bergerac" have also been confirmed with broadcasters in Japan, the Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Poland, New Zealand, and Australia, indicating significant global interest in the detective drama.
