A new six-part comedy-drama, Benidorm is Murder, is set to premiere, offering a sun-drenched mystery for fans of the genre. The series centers on Dennis, a once-dedicated detective who sought a tranquil retirement managing a bar in Benidorm. His peaceful new life is disrupted when mysterious tourist deaths begin to occur, drawing him back into the world of crime-solving.
Assisted by his new barmaid, Rosa, an aspiring actress and avid crime drama fan, Dennis reluctantly takes on new cases. Their amateur sleuthing combines Dennis's practical experience with Rosa's extensive knowledge of TV crime shows. This unique partnership allows them to investigate each murder while evading the local Spanish police.
Star John Hannah described the show as a "gem" filled with "joy and humour," balanced with "serious emotional weight." The cast also includes Brian Bovell as a bar regular, and guest stars such as Denise Welch, Alistair McGowan, and Tamzin Outhwaite. The series is created by Ian Jarvis and directed in part by Simon Delaney and Dermot Boyd.
